Tupiniquin will be opening a monthly (©urve)music™ night at Tapas Club (1246 Rua Augusta, São Paulo) this Wednesday at 11pm. The idea behind this evening is that once a month, one of our artists will play a gig and invite a special guest to support him. If you love Tupiniquin and want to know more about his very special guest, the only thing I can tell you is to be in front of Tapas this Wednesday…and every wednesday after that… If like us, you are based in London and don’t have the extra cash just to fly over to Brazil for a gig, we have got some very good news for you! Tupiniquin and all other (©urve)music™ artists are now broadcasting their live events online, check out their Myspace Pages!

If you like to boogie, this is a must-have for you. Breakbeat and electro are the basis of Nego’s sound, but don’t be fooled, he is Brazilian after all, so be prepared for a twist in each of his crafty compositions! Nego was put straight to work as (©urve)music™’s music fits so well with the Rio Breaks project, that after picking Dr.K up, they have asked for a track from newly-signed Nego Moçambique! On hearing about this proposal, Nego didn’t say a word, he went straight to his studio and composed a tailor-made funky carioca track and let me tell you, it sounds great!

Fossil: This instrumental formation was formed back in 2004 and their sound makes a direct reference to soundtracks. They are very ambient so shut your eyes and you will fall and get lost in a movie. Heavy on impro, you won’t hear twice the same track so treat yourself and head over to one of their numerous gigs!

O Jardim das Horas: This Alternative Pop/Rock band is led by the beautiful voice of Laya Lopes with Carlos Gadelha on guitar and Raphael Haluli on bass. They describe their sound as a result of the influences of electronica, Brazilian, experimental, rock, poetry, fine arts and dance. That certainly got us interested!

Thiago brings you the sound of Samba-Rock, a mixture of joy and rebellion! For those of you who haven’t heard of Samba-Rock, it was a musical ideology that arose around 50 years ago and that is still truly alive all over Brazil. In his debut album, he magically blends the legacy of Jorge Ben and Chico Buarque with that of the likes of Chuck Berry! To get us non-natives accustomed to this new sound, Thiago had this brilliant idea of covering well-known songs in Samba-Rock style that you can download for free on his website!

Tupiniquin
We are proud to announce that as from the beginning of December, all
Tupiniquin’s gigs and PR in Brazil will be taken care of by the biggest and most important Booking Agency in Brazil: Agencia Produtora.
We were happy to see “Made In São Paulo” chart in the South Korean Top10 after its October release. Not only did the album chart well, the single “João do Caminhão” got to number 2 and stayed there for 6 weeks, just behind one of Brazil’s big boys, quite impressive for an Indie release!
And if you were lucky enough to be in Spain lately, maybe you strolled in one of the FNAC shops and heard Tupiniquin on the playlist in Madrid and Barcelona.

Realejo - Dustan Gallas
Dustan Gallas, producer & composer for today’s most innovative artists in Brazil’s music scene has joined Danilo Carvalho, Rian Batista and Denilson Lopes to create Realejo. In “Kinobox”, they revisit classics like “Tico Tico” from Carmen Miranda, one of Brazil’s most influential international stars. The album is composed of 12 tracks inviting you on a journey from classic jazz up to 80’s pop. The result is quite simply unique; there is a very cinematic feel to the whole album with lounge improvisations on “Café da Praia” and Brazil’s Northern rhythms on tracks such as “Urbano”. But instead of reading about our opinion, why don’t you put those earphones on and enjoy the melodies!
